9th-10th Grades - Important Reminders for Upcoming AZMerit Testing

AZMerit testing for
9th & 10th grade students begins
this Monday, April 3

Please send headphones with your student
to be used during one portion of the computer-based test

This year will be our first time taking the tests on computer. Our scholars have been practicing with a new computer based testing program so they should be prepared for the new method of examination. One portion of the test requires the use of headphones. Therefore please be prepared to send your scholar to school with their own headphones to plug into the computer during the week they are scheduled to test.

AzMerit tests are not graded but they are very important measures of academic progress. They are one of the ways that public schools in Arizona are assessed by the Department of Education. We hope you will partner with us to have our scholars prepared and ready. It is always important to eat and sleep properly in order to be at our best and while we are using class time to review and prepare we will not assign any homework the night before a test. Click here for a helpful article with tips to prepare your child for taking the tests.

Please have students bring a book or quiet activity to do in class should they finish testing early. Also, please try to avoid scheduling appointments for your student during this week.

Don't Miss the Trivium Live/Silent Auction Event
6:00 - 9:00 PM
Wigwam Resort, Sachem Terrace
* Admission is Free for Auction Event - Adults Only *

Not playing in the golf tournament?  NO PROBLEM!  Join us after the tournament from 6:00 - 9:00 PM on the Wigwam's Sachem Terrace.  There will be a DJ, amazing auction items, and best of all-other Trivium parents!  Don't have a date?!  Come anyway!  There will be many parents attending on their own knowing that they will see friendly faces from the pickup line or sporting events.  This is a great way to get to know other Trivium parents!  It's also a great way for those with students in lower grades to meet parents with kids in older classes and to get the scoop on what's to come! Dress is "resort casual" - the event will take place outdoors.

** Live Auction Online Bidding Opens Today, March 31, at 3 PM **

Sign Up to Observe a Senior Thesis Defense

Our senior thesis defense presentations are underway! We can't wait to hear what members of our inaugural senior class have to share. The senior thesis is the culmination of a Great Hearts education that calls on students to put it all together: to creatively develop their own thoughts in an original paper, to put all of their self-discipline and perseverance to research and write an independent academic project that takes months to complete, and to summon their courage for the final hour-long oral examination in front of a panel of teachers and an audience of friends and family.
Trivium Prep families have a unique opportunity to observe one of these presentations. Space is limited, so sign up today! Thank you to our Senior Thesis Director, Mr. Finnegan, and his team for their support of our students in this endeavor.

From the Health Office

As we head into the fall season, this is a quick reminder to be mindful of the beginning of cold and flu season. You can help prevent the spread of flu and the common cold by following a few simple steps:
  • Have your child wash his/her hands frequently with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Remind your child to cover his/her nose and mouth with a tissue when sneezing or coughing and dispose of the tissue immediately. We teach them to cough or sneeze into the bend of their elbow, or to cough down into the front of their own shirt to help keep as many germs as possible off of the hands.
  • Teach your child not to touch his/her mouth, nose and eyes.
  • If your child is sick and has a fever, keep him/her at home to prevent the spread of illness to others.  Your child should be naturally fever free (temp below 100 degrees, per DHEC guidelines, without Tylenol or Motrin) for at least 24 hours before returning to school. This is very important!
  • NEW!  Health Office Information - We have added a new page to our website with relevant Health Office information.  Here you can find important resources and forms.  To find this page, click on Familiy Resources -> Health Office on the sidebar of our school website. If you have any questions, please contact our school nurse, Ms. Cornelius.
